A lead of nearly 100 meters, with five laps to go. Eline Cox went all out, and the team controlled the pack—the stands erupted. The pack caught up to her, but the loudest applause of the evening went to the Turner speed skating team.

Stamppot and Tactics
On Saturday evening, February 7, we welcomed more than 120 guests and Turners to the Vechtsebanen in Utrecht. The evening kicked off in the Turner Lounge with a hearty stamppot buffet. Team manager Bouke Gerritsma gave an exclusive preview and shared the team’s tactical plans. Then it was time to head to the track.

Repeated attacks
The race was a succession of attacks and breakaway attempts. Skating team Turner skated aggressively, with the highlight being Eline Cox’s breakaway in the closing stages. A lead of nearly a hundred meters, to loud cheers from the packed stands. The victory ultimately went to Kim Talsma, but the evening was colored by the total effort of the Turner team.

Elite Sports and Careers
This season, the Turner Speed Skating Team consists of Eline Cox, Manon Gremmen, Iza Stekelenburg, Janet Beers, and Judith Krabbenborg. All five combine top-level marathon speed skating with careers in the (bio)medical sector. They demonstrate that a demanding professional career and elite sports reinforce each other.

After the race, guests spoke with the skaters personally during the meet-and-greet.

What’s coming up
The team is gearing up for the competitions in Luleå, Sweden (February 25–28, 2026). Follow their adventures on Instagram or Team Turner.
