Thialf, Heerenveen – Saturday evening, February 8, was all about the annual Turner Speed Skating Team event. It was a wonderful and festive evening filled with elite sports and camaraderie in the speed skating capital of the world. In Thialf’s Daikin Lounge, Turner’s business partners and guests enjoyed an evening of elite sports, networking, and a behind-the-scenes look at the Turner Speed Skating Team.

A Warm Welcome at Thialf
Starting at 5:00 p.m., guests began trickling into the Daikin Lounge at Thialf. Jeroen Visscher opened the evening, highlighting not only the importance of sports and Strategy Execution, but also gave attendees a preview of what awaited them that evening: a tactical preview, an exciting marathon race, and a meet-and-greet with the skaters from Schaatsteam Turner. Afterward, it was time for a winter stew buffet.

Insight into the Turner Speed Skating Team’s Race Tactics
After enjoying a variety of stews, team manager Gerwin Sm provided an exclusive look into the race tactics of the Turner Speed Skating Team. How does a team prepare for a marathon? What strategies are used during the race? And what role does teamwork play in success? Attendees got a unique glimpse into the mindset of a top team and had the opportunity to ask the professionals their questions.

A Thrilling Race at the “
” Around 7:00 p.m., the guests—easily recognizable by their Turner hats or headbands—headed to the track, ready to experience the action up close. The skaters from the Turner Skating Team competed with total dedication, cheered on by the enthusiastic crowd.

Meet & Greet with the Turner Speed Skating Team
After the race, attendees had the opportunity to speak with the skaters in person during the meet & greet hosted by Yanick Mollema. In a relaxed setting, everyone discussed the race and the athletes shared their experiences.

Turner remains a proud sponsor
Great news: Turner will remain a sponsor of Schaatsteam Turner for the 2025/2026 season. The team’s composition will change partially. The new team members will be introduced soon.
