Jeroen Visscher leads the AI Coalition's Education Working Group

Consultancy.nl has also published an article about the contribution that Turner’s managing partner, Jeroen Visscher, will make to the Dutch AI Coalition. Here is the article discussing Jeroen’s contribution, which can also be read here on Consultancy.nl

Last fall, 65 companies, civil society organizations, and research institutions launched the Dutch AI Coalition (NL AIC). The coalition now has 140 partners, including various ministries and universities, advocacy groups such as MKB-Nederland and VNO-NCW, and several large companies such as Ahold Delhaize, IBM, Google, ING, KLM, Capgemini, and Atos.

Together, these parties are striving to make the Netherlands a major player in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). The coalition brings organizations together to address the challenges posed by the various areas of AI application.

“The NL AIC wants the Netherlands to be able to keep pace with Europe’s leaders in the field of AI—both in terms of knowledge and application—for the sake of prosperity and well-being, while respecting Dutch and European norms and values,” according to the NL AIC. “This requires a collaborative, ecosystem-based approach in which the government, businesses, institutions of education and research, and civil society organizations work together.”

These days, there are few people left who need to be convinced of the value of AI. The technology can be deployed in every conceivable sector to, for example, streamline processes, reduce costs, or gain valuable insights from large amounts of data. To implement its agenda as effectively as possible, the NL AIC has established seven working groups, each focused on its own sector.

One of these working groups is Education, and Turner managing partner Jeroen Visscher will serve as the Education Coordinator to help shape this working group.

“AI will have a major impact on the future of education,” Visscher said in a statement regarding his appointment. “From the perspective of technological renewal, I believe it holds enormous potential for the quality of Education. What I find truly exciting are the organizational change and ethical aspects that AI brings, for example, for students and faculty. I’m eager to take on the challenge of shaping this together with them—with solid plans, as well as swift implementation and action throughout the education system.”

In his new role, Visscher can draw on his extensive experience in education and public-private partnerships. He has been with Turner since 2008, where he focuses on topics such as collaboration and performance improvement within the education sector. He has also served as managing partner at Turner since 2016. Previously, he worked for companies including EY, KPMG, and Capgemini.

Kees van der Klauw, coalition manager of the NL AIC, welcomes Visscher’s initiative to establish the Education Working Group. “There is already a lot of focus on education in AI, but it’s important that we also harness the potential of AI for education. This can be done at all levels, in both vocational and general education. The COVID-19 crisis has made it clear that there is a need for personalized digital learning resources, and AI can help with that.”
