Context: The Importance of Family Medicine Clinics
Family medicine clinics are the first link in the emergency care chain. Traditionally, triage and diagnosis take place in person, but the pressure on primary care is increasing. DigiDok, in collaboration with Topicus, developed the Spreekuur.nl app, which allows patients to perform their own triage and, where possible, receive a digital consultation instead of an in-person visit.
Challenge: Create a breakthrough in digital healthcare
DigiDok wanted to demonstrate the added value of Spreekuur.nl to family practice clinics and health insurers in order to achieve a breakthrough in digital healthcare.
Turner's Approach
- Development of a data model to make digital processes measurable and comparable to in-person consultations.
- Hypothesis testing on key questions such as treatment capacity, cost savings on in-person and telephone consultations, and patient satisfaction.
- Develop a business case to substantiate the structural impact of Spreekuur.nl on family practice clinics and health insurers.
- Lessons learned and recommendations based on implementations in the Eemland, Rijnmond, and Drenthe regions.

"The value of the consultation hour is now demonstrable and well-substantiated."
- Inez Teunissen, DigiDok
