June, AI in Education Month

Jeroen Visscher leads the Education Working Group within the Dutch AI Coalition. In June, the working group is organizing “AI in Education Month.” Together with SURF and the Acceleration Program, they have now put together a jam-packed program on artificial intelligence in education.

June, AI in Education Month

The Dutch AI Coalition (NL AIC), in collaboration with SURF and Het Versnellingsplan, is organizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education Month in June. A month packed with (online) events to raise awareness of AI in Education. What inspires you?

With this “AI in Education Month,” we are reaching out to professionals and administrators within educational institutions—as well as those outside of them—who are interested in AI.

Focus on AI

The goal of AI in Education Month is to raise awareness of AI in education and to share knowledge drawn from research and practice. “Over the past year and a half, we’ve been forced to fully embrace digitization in Education. As part of that digitization, we’re also seeing the rise of AI in Education. That’s why we’re declaring June the Month of AI in Education,” said Ron Augustus, Chief Innovation Officer at SURF and the initiative’s founder.

“AI has enormous potential to improve the quality of education. But how do we harness these opportunities for all groups in the education system? And how do we keep the societal and social aspects of AI in mind? This can only be achieved through co-creation between the education sector, the government, the business community, and the citizens of the Netherlands. That, too, is a reason to organize an AI in Education Month,” adds Jeroen Visscher, chair of the Education Working Group.
