Synergy Excellence

Greater than the sum of its parts. Maximizing value from every form of collaboration right from the start.

What Turner can do for you

Maximizing value from every form of collaboration. The whole should be greater than the parts. But that doesn’t always happen automatically. We advise and support organizations in achieving Synergy Excellence. Our experts work on challenges across the following areas:

1

Synergy from mergers and acquisitions

Results: We ensure that what was intended pre-deal is delivered post-deal. We focus on capturing both revenue and cost synergies—targeting at least 50% of planned synergies in year one and 100% in year two, with a preferred 10–30% uplift from revenue synergies.

We make sure the synergy potential is translated into the business case in a way that is both ambitious and realistic, and that there is clear, accountable leadership for integration delivery. With a flying start on day one, we work together to minimize value leakage at the outset by retaining more than 95% of customers and key talent. Within 100 days, we design an integrated operating model with broad buy-in—enabling delivery of 100% of planned synergies and at least 5% in additional, unplanned synergies. We also partner with private equity firms to systematically improve operational performance across portfolio companies, targeting a 10–20% improvement in top-line and/or bottom-line results.

Results: we identify and capitalize on additional synergies, achieving at least 15% efficiency gains in secondary processes and 10% greater effectiveness in primary processes.

For existing partnerships and collaborative structures, we bring the expertise, best practices and drive needed to achieve greater synergy and collaboration benefits faster. This applies both to revenue and cost synergies and to the development of a fit for purpose business model.
We optimize revenue and cost synergies and, based on a structured synergy scan, create the optimal balance between autonomy and alignment across business units. Our guiding principle: focus on customer segments and propositions, and share processes where it matters. Especially in multi site organizations, there is often significant hidden potential to unlock.
In addition, we co create robust, growth oriented business models. We redefine where the real value is created and translate it into an agile business model, with maximum internal synergy and productive connections with external partners.

Synergy from strategic partnerships

Results: We lay the foundation for successful collaboration by aligning the intended partners around a compelling business case from the outset. In addition, within existing partnerships we deliver 20 to 30% more synergy in half the time by organizing the collaboration more intelligently.

In the start up phase, we support you and your partners as an independent third party through a compact and carefully designed process. Central to our approach is aligning stakeholders around a shared vision and a clear business case.

Around existing collaborations, we work with you and your partners to identify the key building blocks needed to streamline the collaboration. We then bring the expertise, best practices and drive required to deliver greater collaboration benefits faster.

Based on our track record on these types of issues, we have established specific principles of approach.
